I taught my first yoga class this past week. I am blessed to have a wonderful supportive teacher who has allowed me to use her space while I go through my teacher training. I need to teach 8 free classes to finish my certification. This past Thursday evening 11 of my friends from different walks of my life came together for the first class. It was a great feeling to watch them all practice yoga. I received great feedback and good ideas to improve my teaching. I am looking forward to teaching a permanent class.
I spent a weekend in Boston in January learning how to teach yoga. The program is called yogafit and it is a vinayasa stylle yoga. It was a great weekend session. I learned from the instructor Mary Comfort as well as from the students in the class. Many were fitness instructors already and were adding yoga to their repertoire. Check out their web site www.yogafit.com

I am backkkkkk
A reminder from DJB, I haven't blogged in quite some time. Let's see...... a busy month, February 2008. The month started with the Giants beating the Pat's. Personally I am not a big football fan, but was happy to see the Giants win. I attended the same Super Bowl party with same great group of friends again this year. I was one of I think 3 people rooting for the NYG. I am a true Boston Red Sox fan, but my loyalty stops there with Boston sports!! A couple of friends had new babies in 07, it was great to meet the new little boys.
The month continued with a week long trip to Las Vegas. The semi-annual trip to MAGIC, Project Show and MRket. Went out couple of days early, rented a car and saw the Red Rock Canyon, about 17 miles southwest of the city. A beautiful canyon, wish we'd had enough room in our luggage to pack hiking shoes!!!! We then went to a few open houses in a new condo complex just outside of the canyon. The trip was a success, new and old connections. I am amazed every time I travel out there how much construction is happening. Every resort is enormous. We stayed at the Mirage this time, more convenient to where we need to shop and 2 of the trade shows.
The service is incredible in the city. Everywhere you go, people who work there are always friendly and willing to help. They really welcome a person. The bellcap at the Mirage, Folk (real first name is Robert) always acknowledged us and gave me a nickname..... Hollywood. Based on my glasses. I might add his were similar, only his were all silver. Just an example of their hospitality.
Heading out to my a theater production my Dad is in...:The night of January 16th". Still going strong in his late 70's.
I start my free yoga class teaching on Thursday 2/21. I am excited and nervous. Have put together my first "lesson plan".
That's it for now. OK, DJB????? Love BAB

OMG it's 2008!!!
I can't believe that it has been two months and 3 holidays since I last blogged. Time has flown. Holidays were great, lots of family and friends time. One more party this Saturday night with the Ya-Ya's. I have put together a handful of goals for myself this year. And am looking forward to a wonderful year!
I will be working towards one of my goals later this month when I head to Boston to start training to teach yoga. Check out www.yogafit.com to see the type of yoga I will be teaching.
I was on line tonight and suddenly an old friend yahoo'd me from the islands. Hadn't chatted in years. Another Connecting With People adventure. He is married now and has a son. It was great to reconnect.
Tux and I are enjoying our winter nights at home. He is still picky with his food, but his T4 levels are stable so that is a good sign. Always the character and charmer

wow time has flown
Once again I realize it's been quite a while since my last posting. Let's see the Boston Red Sox won the World Series, Hofstra Women's Basketball has started, UCONN Men's and Women's Basketball has started. Woowiee. Fall mornings this year have been wonderful to walk, the air is nice and crisp this morning the sky was this deep azure blue with billowy white clouds. I have started to challenge myself to walk further in the morning. A co-worker told me about this site called www.mapmyrun.com you can map a walk, run, bike ride etc... When I mapped some of my walks, I realized many mornings I wasn't even reaching the 2 mile marker. This morning I walked just over 3 miles. What a great feeling.
Take a look at the web site, it even calculates calories burned, minutes per mile, etc...

connecting with red sox fans
It's that time of year. Late October, going in to game 7 of the ALCS against the Cleveland Indians.
They won Thursday, it was my niece's birthday. A good luck charm. They won last night, my brother's birthday. He has been a fan since 1967. I remember very well how he would listen to the games on the radio. I can still remember the names of that season. Yaz, Jim Lonborg, Elston Howard, Mike Ryan, Reggie Smith, Elston Howard, Rico Petrocelli, George Scott, Joe Foy, Ken Harrelson, Sparky Lyle and of course Tony Conigliaro. (now I had to look up some of them, but many of them were etched in my brain.)
So I spent the day either chatting with family and friends about last night and tonight or leaving messages. Can we relive 2004 and go on to the World Series. I think so. Time will tell. I am sure my mom will be speaking to Francona via the tv if Matsuzaka has some trouble and saying "take him out of there", my sister in law may have her rally cap on, and my brother who lives in an area where they don't televise the games will be glued to the t.v tonight.
Go Red Sox and thank you Red Sox for being a great way to Connect with People

so much time has past
Wow, I can't believe it's been about 6 weeks since I have blogged. I really have gotten a little off track. We celebrated my parent's 50th anniversary party two weeks ago. It was a great together of family and close friends. My parents are a true tribute to a strong, solid loving marriage.
It's been a great year of connecting people in the fashion recruiting industry. Our business has grown so much this year. The growing business of specialty retail has really given our business a great boost. It is such a great business to be in, helping people day in and day out
Life is busy too, Dress For Success Hartford is launching it's 2nd fundraiser of the year. The Couture Bridal Sample Sale in November in Hartford. Go to the web site and check it out. www.dressforsuccess.org and work your way to the Hartford, CT affiliate.
Also, planning our 30th high school reunion. Can't believe that much time has passed.

connecting the dots thru godwinks
Quite a few years ago I read the boodk "When God Winks" by SQuire Rushnell. The book talks about looking for coincidences or godwinks in one's life to guide them in their lives. Yesterday I picked up another of his books, "When God Winks" on love. In one of the chapters he talks about "connecting the dots" with people. I had to stop reading to write this in my blog.
I realized I did not write anything in the month of August. It was a busy and fun month. A bike trip in Vermont, a family vacation on the Cape and a business trip to Las Vegas.
Today is Labor Day, a glorious day that ended a beautiful weather weekend spent with family and friends. Tomorrow is a new start, revitalized from a business trip and the feeling of the first day of school.
I look forward to new connections in the coming month.
