wow it's been more than 3 months

Since I've blogged!    What the heck!

I am sure there are dozens of connections with people over the last few months.  3 weeks in a row on the way in or out of NY I ran in to someone from my past life.  It always makes the ride so much more joyous.  I ran in to a fellow recruiter friend who started his business 2.5 years ago.  I hadn't seen him in 10+ years.  I ran in to a friend who travels weekly in to NY for cancer treatment, she is a true inspiration.  I ran in to a former sales rep I used to do business with at Bob's Stores in Meriden, CT.

The summer brought all sorts of fun adventures.  A long weekend in Bowie, Maryland with family, the Greater Hartford Jazz Fest, and a week in Las Vegas with my colleagues and boss.

I became an aunt again 2 weeks ago.  Little Isaiah is the newest addition to our family.   I have not met him yet, but hope to see him soon.  He loves hundreds of miles away, so need to fly to see him.  His big sister Grace is learning how to be a big sister

My nephew Owen is in first grade!  Where does time go?  His little sister Amelia, just started walking about a month ago!

Tuxedo is having his health challenges, trying to figure out how to help him.

That's it for this entry.

A summer saturday

This week's connections.... hmmmm

There is a student in my yoga class who attends college with one of my cousins.  We realized the connection a week or so ago.  This past week my cousin Sam came to class.

Whenever I am on the phone at work with someone whether recruiting or networking or touching base, I always try to find a common person we both know.  I think it helps my credibility, but it also feels more comfortable.  Was chatting with a guy yesterday I have known for some time, we realized we knew quite a few of the same people.

In a couple of weeks I am attending a fashion show/industry fundraiser in the Meatpacking District to support the Collapse of the Colony Bees.  When I have more details I will share.

Heading to Joy's to weed, move some plants and to walk Rocky.  Her niece is turning 1 today, my niece will be 1 tomorrow.  We will share notes when Joy and family get home to see if either is walking, talking or ???

Til then

Ok,Ok, I guess I need to get on the stick

My brother and family were in town over this past weekend.  Comments were made about my blogging or I should say lack there of blogging.  So here I am.....

Connecting the people, I give credit to B2 this week, she talked to 2 people about my yoga class and to someone about my reunion in October.

My classes are steady at between 4-9 people every week.  I am truly enjoying teaching the practice of yoga to people.  The class has all levels, but most are beginners.  They are a wonderful group of people.   I am grateful for their eagerness to continue the class.

I continue to connect with people on a daily basis.  Every day through my recruiting career I speak to new people about their careers and lives.  I also speak to "old" friends and learn what is happening in our industry.  I love connecting the dots with who knows who and who's garments are selling and who's are struggling.

I also connect with people on a personal basis, a couple of days don't go by that I don't run in to someone that I know from another walk of my life.  I love it

I have been gardening a fair amount this year.  First I have a vegetable garden with my cousin Joy.  She has given it a name, the Metacomet Garden  I think???    Some day I will learn how to attach links and pictures and will post them.  Anyway we have eaten radishes already, though they are a little strong and odd shaped still we grew them!  I also have planted around the front of the house and back porch.  My 12 year old neighbor 2 doors down came to help me last week.  She came by again last night looking to help again.  Very sweet

I had a women and wine party on Friday June 20th.  To celebrate summer and friends.  16 women from different parts of my life came to the party.  I cooked lots of new recipes and all were well received.  2 friends made delish desserts and they were both a hit!

My niece Amelia turns 1 this coming Sunday, so we are off to her 1st birthday party.  She is almost walking.....

See you real soon

busy like a bee

I feel like  a buzzing bee lately.  Constantly on the run doing something, most of it is good....

We are just under 4 weeks away from the 3rd annual Dress for Success Hartford's Capital Catwalk on Monday night June 9th.  www.dressforsuccess.org  go to affiliates and find the Hartford page.   It's always a great night!

Received my certificate this month to formally teach yoga.  I am teaching at the Zen Zone on Thursdays.  I truly enjoy offering the beauty of yoga to people.

Buying a new car, going smaller and more economical, with a Civic from Liberty Honda in Hartford

And the Simsbury High School 30th reunion planning is well on it's way.  Our blog is shs30threunion.blogspot.com

Planted the vegetable garden last weekend with my cousin Joy.  We have a beautiful layout thanks to her creativity.  It looks like  a sun with the rays of veggies!!!

Not to mention the full time recruiting job!!

Life is full and busy!!!

More soon

4 days off and full of errands, trips and other stuff

4 days of catching up and trying to get ahead of the game and I think, yes I know I did it!

Shopped for a Honda Civic on Friday at Liberty Honda in Hartford, CT.   Should own it within the month.  Had the nails done too!

Drove to Newton, MA to celebrate my birthday and my brother Dave's.  Hung out with my nephew Owen and niece Amelia, Dave, Beth, Mom and Dad.  It was a fun and food filled day!  Owen is losing his 2nd tooth and Amelia has two teeth.  Owen almost has riding a bike with no training wheels!  Amelia is quite the animated cute little girl.

Sunday, church annual meeting.... We are moving forward as a congregation.  Cousin Joy helped me with my reunion postcard...  Thanks cuz.

Today, errands, errands and then cleaning.  Purposely kept all the yucky stuff to a rainy day.

a busy week

It's been a busy week..... let's see.

Still watching the little seedlings grow in my enclosed front porch.  Did I blog that?  My cousin Joy and I planted seeds 3 weeks ago in egg cartons to give our garden a start.  The seedlings are growing so fast!!!  With the warm sun these last 10+ days, it has really helped them grow.  Of course, Tuxy discovered them mid week and had a little snack on a few.  So needed to rearrange them a bit to be out of his reach.   Cats, they are such characters

I delivered flowers last weekend to a woman from church, she is such a spitfire.  Great energy.  She introduced me to a neighbor, who needed a dog sitter and someone to cut his lawn.  I tried to connect a few folk, but didn't work out.  That's how Connect the People works, sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't.

I start teaching a yoga class permanently this Thursday May 1st at the Zen Zone in Tarifffville.  I am looking forward to giving people the gift of yoga

Off to Newton tomorrow to celebrate family birthdays.  Fun!!

Let's see what's happened in the past month

My brackets blew apart in the first weekend.  But the Boston Red Sox are on top of the American league.  So life is good!

I finished my community service yoga teaching, so will start teaching on Thursday nights at the Zen Zone in Tariffville, CT.  I am excited and nervous to get started.  I have a great mentor in my current instructor.  I have another friend who has offered help and guidance to me too.  I am blessed.

Work is busy, thankfully.  Our clients just seem to take time trying to make sure they have found the right person to fill the position

Talk Soon.... B

My Brackets are BUSTED

Whoosh.  That's what happens when you go with your heart.  I do it every year.  I always choose the Big East teams to go the furthest.  Well, Pitt, Gtwn, and UCONN are all out and we aren't even in the sweet 16 yet.  YIKES.  Oh well, that's part of the fun to see which of the lower seeds can beat the higher seeds

Easter weekend, spent time with my niece and nephew.  Both so sweet.  Easter egg hunts, coloring eggs, memory game.  Lots of delish food.  A good long weekend.

Topping the Master

Last night I went to MSG- the most famous sports arena as they claim.  It is the start of one of my most favorite times of year..... The Big East Tournament and then the Big Dance!!!!  Anyway, I go with my friend Amy from high school.  (it's 30 years since we graduated from SHS) and she sits in her seat first, I go to sit in mine and as I sit down I look at the woman next to me as she looks at me....and.   OMG, another friend from High School.  Needless to say the 3 of us chatted thru most of the games.  Our team, UCONN, was already out so we were just watching to see who would be in Finals tonight.

My cousin Amy, said I even topped my Dad on this one.  Dad runs in to people he knows all the time, he is the Master!  But last night, I guess I topped him

Tomorrow is Selection Sunday and then on to DANCING

getting the black belt

Yesterday our family watched Nate get his Youth Black Belt in Karate.  He has worked very hard for the last 6 years and yesterday was a culmination of his efforts.  He had about 15 relatives/friends come watch him achieve this goal.  We are all very proud of him.  He is  a good solid young man.

In addition to attending the test, I also chatted with quite a few people about my yoga teaching.  As you know I am a strong believer in networking so speaking to others I believe is helping me figure out where and when I will teach.  I think I have decided to keep the current Thursday nights at 7:15 class at the Zen Zone in Tariffville.   My current instructor has created such a beautiful, peaceful environment to practice yoga.

yoga teaching

I taught my first yoga class this past week. I am blessed to have a wonderful supportive teacher who has allowed me to use her space while I go through my teacher training. I need to teach 8 free classes to finish my certification. This past Thursday evening 11 of my friends from different walks of my life came together for the first class. It was a great feeling to watch them all practice yoga. I received great feedback and good ideas to improve my teaching. I am looking forward to teaching a permanent class.

I spent a weekend in Boston in January learning how to teach yoga. The program is called yogafit and it is a vinayasa stylle yoga.  It was a great weekend session.  I learned from the instructor Mary Comfort as well as from the students in the class.  Many were fitness instructors already and were adding yoga to their repertoire.   Check out their web site www.yogafit.com

I am backkkkkk

A reminder from DJB, I haven't blogged in quite some time. Let's see...... a busy month, February 2008. The month started with the Giants beating the Pat's. Personally I am not a big football fan, but was happy to see the Giants win. I attended the same Super Bowl party with same great group of friends again this year. I was one of I think 3 people rooting for the NYG. I am a true Boston Red Sox fan, but my loyalty stops there with Boston sports!! A couple of friends had new babies in 07, it was great to meet the new little boys.

The month continued with a week long trip to Las Vegas. The semi-annual trip to MAGIC, Project Show and MRket. Went out couple of days early, rented a car and saw the Red Rock Canyon, about 17 miles southwest of the city. A beautiful canyon, wish we'd had enough room in our luggage to pack hiking shoes!!!! We then went to a few open houses in a new condo complex just outside of the canyon. The trip was a success, new and old connections. I am amazed every time I travel out there how much construction is happening. Every resort is enormous. We stayed at the Mirage this time, more convenient to where we need to shop and 2 of the trade shows.

The service is incredible in the city. Everywhere you go, people who work there are always friendly and willing to help. They really welcome a person. The bellcap at the Mirage, Folk (real first name is Robert) always acknowledged us and gave me a nickname..... Hollywood. Based on my glasses. I might add his were similar, only his were all silver. Just an example of their hospitality.

Heading out to my a theater production my Dad is in...:The night of January 16th". Still going strong in his late 70's.

I start my free yoga class teaching on Thursday 2/21. I am excited and nervous. Have put together my first "lesson plan".

That's it for now. OK, DJB????? Love BAB

OMG it's 2008!!!

I can't believe that it has been two months and 3 holidays since I last blogged. Time has flown. Holidays were great, lots of family and friends time. One more party this Saturday night with the Ya-Ya's. I have put together a handful of goals for myself this year. And am looking forward to a wonderful year!

I will be working towards one of my goals later this month when I head to Boston to start training to teach yoga. Check out www.yogafit.com to see the type of yoga I will be teaching.

I was on line tonight and suddenly an old friend yahoo'd me from the islands. Hadn't chatted in years. Another Connecting With People adventure. He is married now and has a son. It was great to reconnect.

Tux and I are enjoying our winter nights at home. He is still picky with his food, but his T4 levels are stable so that is a good sign. Always the character and charmer
